The Risk Worked – Art Show Acceptance and Reception on July 21st

In my last post, I talked about slowly growing in confidence and beginning to explore ways to publicly show my photos. I took some risks and ended up submitting photos to two juried shows.

The first show was on street photography which really isn’t my thing, but I tried. I saw some of the photos that were accepted and while I was not accepted, I thought the other photos were amazing. I think I will take some time this year learning more about this type of photography. The other juried show was open for subject matter, and I submitted five of my favorite photos. This risk worked.

I am so very pleased to share that all five of my photos were accepted and are part of the Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts Summer 2022 Art Show. I am thrilled to be included with 27 other talented artists. The show runs from July 14th – September 1st with a meet the artists opening reception on July 21, 2022 from 4-8pm.

The Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts (pncreativeartscenter.org) is located at 2736 NY-30, Gloversville, NY 12078. If you are in the area on the 21st or even throughout the length of the show, stop by the center. It is a gorgeous facility and connected with a great mission.

On a side note, it was new experience to frame and deliver my photos to the center. Making the decisions of matting and types of frames was more challenging than making the decisions for frames in my own home. I also had never done the wire hanging myself, so I spent a lot of time online and in Michaels figuring out the best options. In the end, I went with a variety of formats including getting canvas prints of two of the photos. I was so excited and nervous on the day that I delivered the framed work that I forgot to take pics of the final choices. All I got were a few photos as I left them there at the center for the curator to frame. I will post again after the reception next week and get some shots of the hung work and the entire experience.

Photos from dropping off my framed work.
